- Key points to remember

You have reached the end of this module on cardiac arrest in special circumstances.

A clinician talking to a crash team. EPIC NOTE 1

Resuscitation needs to be modified in specific circumstances. Early recognition of signs and symptoms and effective treatment will often prevent cardiac arrest.

The conditions described in this module account for a large proportion of cardiac arrests in younger patients.

Use the ABCDE approach for early recognition and treatment to prevent cardiac arrest.

High quality CPR and treatment of reversible causes is the mainstay of treatment of cardiac arrest from any cause.

Call for expert help early when specialist procedures are needed - e.g. delivery of foetus for cardiac arrest in pregnancy.
