- A new patient
You have just arrived on the ward when you are presented with a patient to treat. Samantha Low, a 60-year-old woman, has had severe diarrhoea and vomiting for the last two days. Her medications include furosemide and an ACE inhibitor.
You follow the ABCDE (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) approach and note the following:
- A : Clear
- B : RR 20 min-1
- C : P 130 min[sup]-1[/sup], BP 80/50 mmHg
- D : Responds to voice
- E : No rashes, looks pale
